You are invited to the 2010 Christian Basics Course
Tuesday
evenings in June ... in the Church meeting room, exploring those topics you’ve always wanted to ask about the Christian faith! The course is also preparation for those who would like to be Confirmed at St Peter’s on Sunday 11th July, but there is no obligation to be Confirmed – some people like to use the course as a ‘refresher’.
Tuesday evenings
June 8th, 15th, 22nd,

Tues 8th June
Introduction – the reality of God Tues 15th June The meaning of the Bible & the Sacraments
______________________________________ Confirmation: Confirmation was originally part of a wider ceremony of Christian baptism, and only became a separate rite when bishops were no longer able to preside at all Christenings. Confirmation marks the point in someone’s life journey when participation in the life of the church, which started at baptism, is ‘confirmed’ by the bishop. The service is a moving one, where those being Confirmed affirm for themselves the faith into which they have been baptised, and their hope of living a Godly life of responsible and committed discipleship. Through prayer and the laying on of hands by the bishop, the whole congregation asks God to encircle candidates in his love, and to give them the gifts and strength of the Holy Spirit. ______________________________________
