Our Link with Emmanuel Parish, Forest Gate

Forest Gate link update….

A few of us from St Peter’s and Emmanuel gathered early in the year to discuss how we can develop our Church Twinning. Everyone agreed that we had had excellent visits to each other and that the whole experience had been really good for all who had taken part. (Photos here are from last year’s Vicarage lunch with visitors from Emmanuel). We agreed that the important thing was for church members from both parishes to get to know each other better. So quite a few ideas have been suggested:

·         We will let each other know about important events, and give an open invitation to join each other’s events.

·         We will include each other in intercessions and perhaps have prayer partners

·         The Parish Weekend at Ditchingham in 2009 will be a joint weekend away

·         We will organise for a small group of our people to go to Forest Gate for a Sunday morning service, and vice versa.

·         We will sing Choral Evensong together once a year at Coggeshall

·         Each church should have a board with photos and names underneath of each others' keen twinners.

·         We hope to develop some children's/school activities

Twinning dates 2008:

Sunday 13^th April – small group to attend Emmanuel morning Eucharist

Sunday 4th May – St Peter’s main visit to Emmanuel for lunch & afternoon

Sunday 8th June –small group from Emmanuel to attend our morning service

Sunday 6th July – Emmanuel main visit to Coggeshall for lunch and afternoon

Sunday 28th September – joint Choral Evensong at St Peter’s
