The 23rd Annual Coggeshall Flower Festival will take place over the August bank holiday weekend in the beautiful church of St Peter ad Vincula, which lies at the heart of the historic town of Coggeshall.

A spectacular floral interpretation of scriptural references to flowers, plants and creation includes well known stories from the bible including:

·         The Garden of Eden

·         Moses in the bullrushes

·         Naboth's Vineyard

·        "There is no Rose of such virtue"

·        Palm Sunday

·        Ruth gleaning in the fields

St Peter’s has established a well-deserved reputation for outstanding flower festivals.  Preparations for this year’s festival began back in November, and over 4,000 blooms will be used to decorate the church.  32 flower arrangers will work over 4 days to put the festival together, creating more than 100 arrangements in 30 displays.

The Festival also offers a treat for music lovers:

On Saturday night there will be a summer evening’s musical entertainment by the Locarno Big Band, performing a programme of music from the 1930s-1950s Big Band Era, including Glen Miller numbers.

There will also be a ‘Songs of Praise’-style service on Sunday 29th August at 5.15 pm, when visitors will have the chance to sing and hear some well-loved hymns reflecting the theme of the Festival.

Our Sunday Sung Festival Eucharist is at 10.00am as usual, along with our quieter 8am service of Holy Communion. Service times.

Delicious home made cakes and light lunches
will be available in the church for the duration of the festival.

Entry is free, though donations towards the upkeep of the church will be warmly welcomed.
Last year, close to 2,500 people came to visit the Festival from all over the county, with many taking the opportunity to explore Coggeshall, one of North Essex's gems.
