The 21st Annual Coggeshall Flower Festival will take place over the August bank holiday weekend in the beautiful church of St Peter ad Vincula, which lies at the heart of the historic town of Coggeshall. A spectacular floral interpretation of ‘Women in the Bible' includes well known stories and saints, as well as some more unusual or forgotten stories. The festival in flowers will include: |

St Peter’s has established a well-deserved reputation for outstanding flower festivals. Preparations for this year’s festival began in November 2007, and over 4,000 blooms will be used to decorate the church. 32 flower arrangers will work over 4 days to put the festival together, creating more than 100 arrangements in 30 displays. The Festival also offers a treat for music lovers. Musical recitals will take place in the church throughout the weekend and on Saturday 23rd August at 7.30pm there will be a summer evening’s musical entertainment by Bespoke Brass. There will also be a ‘Songs of Praise’-style service on Sunday 24th August at 5.15 pm, when visitors will have the chance to sing and hear some well-loved hymns reflecting the theme of the Festival. Delicious home made cakes and light lunches will be available in the church for the duration of the festival and entry is free – although donations towards the upkeep of the church will be warmly welcomed. Last year, close to 2,500 people came to visit the Festival from all over the county, with many taking the opportunity to explore Coggeshall, one of North Essex's gems.
