Soup and Sandwiches forColchester's HomelessAlong with a number of other local churches, St Peter's congregation are involved with the nightly provision of soup and food in Colchester town centre for the homeless. If you'd like to be involved with this, do get in touch with our Soup Run Co-ordinator, Donald Tosh who will be glad to give you more details. This works on a simple rota basis in Coggeshall - two church 'teams' work together on the second Tuesday of the month: one team makes up food, sandwiches and drinks during the afternoon; the other team collects the prepared items, for distribution in Colchester town centre from 7.30pm. Others help by donating tins at harvest or making sandwiches at home etc. Strict guidelines are followed to ensure that each evening is trouble-free, enjoyable and smooth-running. We always need more volunteers to go on the rota, so please do get in touch with Donald if you would like to find out more. Note that Churches in Colchester Homeless Soup Run rules stipulate that you have to be over 16 and a Christian.
