Since March 2004, Philip Prior has been Director of Music at St Peter's, responsible for all aspects of music and music-making in this busy Essex parish church.
Philip Prior graduated from Anglia Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Education honours degree and taught for 5 years at Kelvedon Hatch Primary School with responsibility for Music throughout the school. He was the Musical Director and Conductor for the Brentwood Junior Schools' Music Festivals in Brentwood Cathedral, for both 2000 and 2001 and the accompanist in 2002. In September 2000, he began studying for a postgraduate Master of Arts degree in Choral Education at the Roehampton Institute in London, part of the University of Surrey, which he completed in September 2004. In November 2002, he was appointed Acting Assistant Director of Music at St Cedd's School in Chelmsford, where he continued to teach until leaving in Easter 2007 to pursue a career as a professional organist and teacher.
